Best bar in Walker's Point, 2009: The Bomb Shelter
With The Social gone, Milwaukeeans voted one of the area's newcomers, The Bomb Shelter, as their new favorite in Walker's Point. The Bomb Shelter opened a year ago at 1517 S. 2nd St., in the space formerly inhabited by The Monkey Bar.

The National is a great new addition to cafe culture
In a great little storefront spot on the corner of 9th Street and National Avenue, two large picture windows adorned in retro print drapery reveal a quaint, yet contemporary looking café. This is The National, a brand new coffee shop and restaurant at 839 W. National Ave. that recently reclaimed the space left empty by Brooklyn Bob's move to Downtown.

Conejito's offers speedy service, cheap food
In 1972, José Garza opened the popular Mexican restaurant, Conejito's Place in Walker's Point. Since then, the no-frills eatery unofficially landed on the A-list of underrated Milwaukee establishments and has an almost cult-like following.

Ginger brings life back to former Barossa building
It's difficult not to want to compare the new Ginger to its former existence as Barossa. Although, as completely separate entities that just happen to share a common space and owner, seasoned Milwaukee restaurateur Julia LaLoggia -- it's not entirely fair. Ginger recently opened as a tapas restaurant and lounge in Walker's Point. Check it out.
