Meze Lounge brings tapas to Jefferson Street
If there is a hot dining trend right now, it's got to be tapas. Small servings of eclectic, selections are gaining popularity over larger portioned entrees, and although Milwaukee's new Meze Lounge does the traditional sized meals, its focus is really a fusion of international appetizers.

Ginger brings life back to former Barossa building
It's difficult not to want to compare the new Ginger to its former existence as Barossa. Although, as completely separate entities that just happen to share a common space and owner, seasoned Milwaukee restaurateur Julia LaLoggia -- it's not entirely fair. Ginger recently opened as a tapas restaurant and lounge in Walker's Point. Check it out.

Love to share
A recent visit to Ethiopian Cottage, which I reviewed earlier this week, made me think of one of my favorite aspects of dining out: intimacy, and no, I’m not speaking of “’9 1/2 Weeks,” although Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger certainly accelerated heartbeats experimenting with olives, ice and cherries.

Revisiting Don Quijote proves fruitful
Don Quijote, 704 S. 2nd St., has found a new home in Walker's Point, and the food here is better than reviewer Amy Carlson remembered it from a visit at the former location nearly a decade ago, and service, in part provided by Salas' daughter Tabatha De Leon, proved remarkable.

Balzac's tastes please, even if portions are small for Milwaukee palates
Recognizing that many Milwaukeeans view restaurant quality by the amount of food they are served, Balzac might not be the place to bring grandma for dinner. But Balzac deserves your attention. Quite simply, the food is, in Milwaukee terms, real good eatin'.

Reader poll
Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
This is like choosing the least painful way to die.
