Predicting the biggest events of this decade
We're 31 days away from 2010 and in the coming weeks, news magazines will begin to debate what events dominated and shaped the first decade of the 21st century. These would be my predictions, for the most influential national events and Milwaukee stories in the last decade. And to add debate to controversy, I've ranked them from the most important on down.

"Survivor: Samoa" Episode 6: A true survival test
The game of "Survivor" is pretty serious business. It tests your mental toughness as much as it test your physical strength. On Day 15, only two weeks into a nearly six-week journey, we already are seeing signs of people beginning to break down.

Lobdell finishes third on "Survivor: Tocantins"
Erin Lobdell described her appearance on "Survivor: Tocantins" as "life-changing." Unfortunately for the 27-year-old Waukesha native, it wasn't as life-changing as winning $1 million. Lobdell, a hair stylist at Glow Salon and Spa, 765 N. Jackson St., made it to the final three of the popular reality show before seeing her torch extinguished during the three-hour series finale Sunday.

Waukesha native Lobdell is still alive on "Survivor"
While Danny Gokey supporters around Milwaukee feverishly vote for their favorite singer to advance on "American Idol," fans of the area's "other" reality contestant of the moment are hoping that she doesn't get "voted off the island." Erinn Lobdell, a 27-year-old Waukesha native who works as a hairstylist and makeup artist at Glow Salon and Spa Downtown, has made it through the first five "tribal council meetings" on "Survivor: Tocantins," which is the 18th installment of the popular CBS series.

Reader poll
Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
This is like choosing the least painful way to die.
