Buer takes us on a tour of Bolzano Artisan Meats
A few years ago Great Lakes Distillery set up the state's first distillery in an old dairy building on Holton and Capitol. When owner Guy Rehorst moved his operation to Walker's Point, Scott Buer moved in and launched another Wisconsin first there. Buer's Bolzano Meats is Wisconsin's first dry cured charcuterie producer. Here, he tells us all about it.

On the town in Milwaukee: Slow down for Rush Hour
The new "Rush Hour" at La Merenda keeps traditional happy hour drink deals but adds the option of ordering food a la carte. Over drinks the other night, we were able to order smaller portions of tapas that typically come in orders of four.

Rehorst pours triple crown of fruit brandies
If I thought that Great Lakes Distillery's first attempt at grappa was fruity, it was only because I hadn't yet sampled the flavor explosions that are its German Kirschwasser and pear eau-de-vie. All three are crafted from Wisconsin fruit.

Great Lakes Distillery caps the spirit of autumn
Recently Julie Lawrence wrote about some of her favorite fall beers. For me, when the air starts to take on a chill, I reach for my well-stocked stash of grappa. Although Great Lakes Distllery hasn't yet launched its grappa -- which I tasted when there was snow on the ground outside the distillery, then in Riverwest -- it now launches Pumpkin Seasonal Spirit.

Rehorst's artisan vodka grows stonger still in this brew city
You'd expect Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood to be the home of a small, microbrewery. You might not expect it to be the headquarters of an artisan vodka distillery that produces 2,000 bottles each month.

Jazz fans flock to The Estate for a taste of "The Chicken"
The Estate, where the jazz flows as fluid as the beer and scotch, is home to some of the best live music options this city has to offer. Every Tuesday, The Erotic Adventures of the Static Chicken take the stage for a nearly four-hour, free-form jam session.

Reader poll
Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
This is like choosing the least painful way to die.
