Brewers roster has a balanced look
Only 10 players on the Brewers' current roster were on the 2008 National League Division Series roster. Considering the nature of baseball today, the turnover isn't that surprising. But combining the veteran experience of Randy Wolf, Greg Zaun and LaTroy Hawkins with the youth of Alcides Escobar and Carlos Gomez around an established core could be a key to success in 2010.

Hip-hop newcomer Prote-J swings for the fences
You may not have heard of Prote-J, a 21-year-old hip-hop artist from Orlando, by way of Los Angeles and Papua New Guinea, but if you've been to a Brewers game in the past year or so you've heard his song "Heir to the Throne," which is Prince Fielder's at-bat song. We caught up with the composer and asked about his music and his relationship with the Brewers first baseman.

Brewers notebook: Macha will be back in 2010
The 2009 season came to an end for the Brewers Sunday in St. Louis with a 10-inning, 9-7 victory over the Cardinals. The victory gave Milwaukee an 80-82 record -- the first losing season in manager Ken Macha's career. Before the game, general manager Doug Melvin announced that Macha will be back in 2010 with a team option for a return in 2011.

Saturday Scorecard: Giving Gallardo the stop sign
Brewers ace Yovani Gallardo will make his 30th and final start of the season Sunday afternoon. The Brewers are shutting him down because of a heavy workload this year. In 29 starts, Gallardo has thrown more than 3,000 pitches -- sixth-most in the National League -- over more 180 2/3 innings. Given Gallardo's age (23) and the fact that he missed most of last season after undergoing two knee surgeries, the Brewers are concerned that he could be entering the danger zone.

Brewers Notebook: Fielder a rare bright spot in 2009
The 2009 season hasn't exactly played out the way the Brewers had hoped. The pitching staff has been abysmal, key members of the offense have sputtered and a season that began with hopes of a second consecutive playoff appearance is now turning into a struggle for relevance. But in the midst of the mediocrity and underachievement, there have been a couple of bright spots. And none have been brighter than Prince Fielder, who continues to evolve into a fully rounded player.

Too early to get up in arms about Brewers' chances
The Brewers have been sagging for weeks, but it's too early to write off the season just yet. Sure, the Brewers have weaknesses that have to be handled. The bottom of the batting order is awful. The starting pitching is schizophrenic and you seemingly can't depend on anyone, including Yovani Gallardo. The Brewers still have some strengths, chief among them an easy schedule in August.

Sunday Scorecard: The new Prince of video games
The 50-homer season was fun, taking a team to the playoffs for the first time in 26 years was enjoyable and winning the Home Run Derby was a trip, but Prince Fielder is especially excited about being featured on the cover of "The BIGS 2" video game. The Brewers first baseman shared his thoughts on the honor with Sunday Scorecard.
