5K, redux
Unlike my previous 5K race in July, which also happened to be my first, I felt prepared as could be this morning. Even though I only decided a few days ago to run in the 5K portion of the Lake Country Half Marathon in Oconomowoc, this time my training was neither rushed nor ill-advised.

An all day event, "Love for Life Benefit" activities include a softball tournament, kid's activities like a Hannah Montana Hoe Down workshop, silent auction and live auction. Live music runs throughout the day with performances by Keith Pulvermacher and Micheal Sean, The Rhythm Kings, the Eddie Butts Band and the Love Monkeys.

Pipito salutes Porticello with new restaurant
Tony Pipito, owner of Mama's Italian Cuisine and the attached Papa's Social Club at 7712-18 W. Burleigh St., will open a new Italian restaurant in Oconomowoc this fall. Porticello, named for the Sicilian town of his forebears, will be managed by his son, Steve.
