Patrolling the Summerfest grounds with MPD
When most patrons think of security at Summerfest, they probably first conjure up thoughts of the burly "red shirts" patrolling the grounds. But uniformed cops are there at all times, providing backup, ready to act if things get out of hand for the unarmed security. Last Friday, we did a "walk along" with two of these Milwaukee officers.

Milwaukee Police crack down on online prostitution
The cliché has played out in the movies and on TV countless times: a man pulls up to a suggestively-dressed woman; she leans in the window and asks what he's looking for; a price is negotiated and she hops inside. Chief's civilian plan stymied
It is the unthinkable. Civilians running the Milwaukee Police Department. That vision, at least part of it, was the brainchild of new Police Chief Ed Flynn, whose plan to reorganize the command structure at MPD was thwarted by the Common Council this week.
