The 2000 Angels had their Rally Monkey. Looking through my Brewers photo gallery, I just remembered that Milwaukee has (or had) the Brewers Monkey.

Almost exactly six years ago, we introduced you to The Monkey Bar. Since then, "the monkey" has done a lot of growing up, culminating in a new look and feel in a new location that reopened officially last week.

It's always monkey business for Jefferson County pet owner
Linda Wicklund's pet monkey Mindy is a part of the family. Wicklund takes her everywhere she goes, without exception. She brings Mindy to work -- Wicklund and her husband, Terry, own Western Towing in Jefferson County -- and even to the grocery store, sometimes hiding the monkey under her shirt.

Riverwest's Flying Fish Gallery is currently featuring The Sock Monkey Show. Consequently, the small, sunny storefront is stocked with 170 sock monkeys made by 104 different crafts people, ranging from a great-grandmother to a Hollywood set designer.

Palms Bistro an upscale monkey dining experience
Milwaukee's finally caught on to the notion that monkeys are cool, and the addition of Palms Bistro/Bar in the Third Ward reinforces that. For a restaurant that's only been open for a few weeks, they've done a lot right in this upscale, primate-filled establishment.

Milwaukee has seen its share of theme bars, and sometimes, they're just a passing fad. The theme of monkeys, however, predates humans. They're cute, funny and you can teach them how to smoke. And that's all the more reason to name a tavern after them. Enter Walker's Point newest nightlife addition, The Monkey Bar.
