Open Table salutes Il Mito and Ristorante Bartolotta
Tosa takes the cake. Well, at least two Italian restaurants in Wauwatosa are the only two Wisconsin eateries on Open Table's 2009 list of Best Italian Restaurant Award winners.

Rapid review: Il Mito Enoteca
Although Il Mito started out in Walker's Point, it's really come into its own in Wauwatosa, where Chef Michael Feker serves lunch, dinner and brunch. Next door is his School of Culinary Magic, which offers classes, demonstrations and chef's table events at which Feker himself -- a great showman -- is the main attraction.

Milwaukee nightlife: Are you a suburban drinker?
Home of dozens of theaters, neighborhoods of restaurants and recognized bar districts; suburbanites have been graciously coping with the 20-minute drive Downtown for years. But, as plenty of newly opened suburban bars prove, the flow occasionally switches and there's reason for city dwellers to venture west, north or south for a sip of something different.

Feker takes Il Mito to Piemonte
While I might quibble a little with the menu -- being a Piemontese purist and all -- I'm happy that Il Mito Enoteca hosts a "Regional Tour of the tastes of Piedmont" dinner on Friday, Nov. 21 beginning at 7 p.m. I bet Chef Michael Feker will uncork some great barberas for the occasion.

A few years ago if you wanted to learn to cook in a classroom -- as opposed to in the kitchen with your mom or grandma -- there were few options. Now, thanks to a boom in the foodie culture in Milwaukee, there is a full menu of options from the casual to the intense.
