Tookula brings Germany from Minden to Milwaukee
Bringing more German culture to Milwaukee is never a bad idea. In a city filled with brewhauses and sausage vendors, German youth choir Tookula should feel right at home.

An education in the monastery
AUGSBURG, Germany -- I bicycled into Augsburg, which is a little seedy from the start. Maybe it's the day, as the weather is overcast and rainy.

Onto Ulm
ULM, Germany -- It's about 15 kilometers from Blaubeuren to Ulm. I tend to favor the smaller communities outside the bigger cities because they're easier to maneuver, the people are friendlier, and there's just a better hometown feel.

Finding Stuttgart
STUTTGART, Germany -- Word is, there's a great bicycle trail out of Lauffen that goes straight through Stuttgart. Problem is, if you don't know where it is, it's difficult to get there.

McCafe in Germany
I stopped at a McDonald's on the outskirts of Swabisch Hall. McCafe is much the same as the states except the coffee bar and the food counters are completely separate. It was like having a Starbucks inside the McDonalds.

The not-so-helpful man
I reluctantly left the wonderful youth hostel in Donauworth this morning. Before going, I was finally able to fix my handlebars. They had slipped a little following the rain in Neuburg.

Reader poll
Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
This is like choosing the least painful way to die.
