Saturday Scorecard: Giving Gallardo the stop sign
Brewers ace Yovani Gallardo will make his 30th and final start of the season Sunday afternoon. The Brewers are shutting him down because of a heavy workload this year. In 29 starts, Gallardo has thrown more than 3,000 pitches -- sixth-most in the National League -- over more 180 2/3 innings. Given Gallardo's age (23) and the fact that he missed most of last season after undergoing two knee surgeries, the Brewers are concerned that he could be entering the danger zone.

Brewers recap: Six months later, 'Soup' is still cold
The first game of the Brewers' 2009 season echoed the final game of the 2008 campaign in that it left fans feeling dejected, deflated, depressed and angry at starting pitcher Jeff Suppan. There is, of course, one major difference: The Brewers won't have to wait six months for another chance.

Saturday Scorecard: A very important free agent
While Brewers fans continue to fantasize about the club signing CC Sabathia, another important free agent is hanging out at home in Hartland, waiting for the phone to ring. Pitching coach Mike Maddux's contract with the team is set to expire and -- depending what happens with the manager -- it's uncertain whether he will return to the club next season.

Saturday Scorecard: Behind the 8-ball
Yovani Gallardo's potentially season-ending knee injury will not prevent the Brewers from winning the National League Central. But, it certainly won't help the cause.
