Packers add toughness, defense to roster in draft
The Packers' objectives in the draft, murky beforehand, came into focus over the weekend. General manager Ted Thompson added eight players -- three on offense and five on defense. The acquisitions, which included first-round picks B.J. Raji (pictured) and Clay Matthews of USC, show that new defensive coordinator Dom Capers is serious about upgrading a run defense that was horrible in '08.

Packers, fans ready to get caught up in the draft
Given the rampant popularity of the National Football League, particularly the franchise that plays in Green Bay, the adage in local media circles has long held that "you can never give them too much news about the Packers." The NFL Draft tests that theory. Few events in sports generate the type of saturation coverage that accompanies the NFL Draft, which will be held this weekend.

Brewers select RHP Jeffress in draft
The Brewers have selected right handed pitcher Jeremy Jeffress with the 16th overall pick in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, it was announced today by special assistant to the general manager/director of amateur scouting Jack Zduriencik.
