Brewers Notebook: Cameron off to fast start
When the Brewers exercised the $10 million option on centerfielder Mike Cameron last winter, many wondered if it was a ploy to keep close friend CC Sabathia in Milwaukee, the first step towards a possible trade or just a bad, bad move on the part of General Manager Doug Melvin. With Cameron leading the team in hitting so far, the decision looks like a smart one.

Brewers hire Randolph to be their bench coach
When he wasn't hired to manage the Brewers last month, Willie Randolph figured his chances of returning to Milwaukee were shot. But, he works in baseball, an industry where you never say "never." In an announcement that came as a surprise to almost everyone, including the former Mets manager himself, the Brewers tabbed Randolph to be the bench coach for manager Ken Macha.

Saturday Scorecard: As the sporting world turns...
For the second time in six years, the Brewers tried to hire Ken Macha. This time, it worked. Dale Sveum was gone, but now it looks like he's back. Aaron Rodgers got paid big bucks, while Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila was shown the door.

Brewers select Macha as new manager
Now that the World Series is over, the Brewers have moved quickly to name a new manager. Former Oakland skipper Ken Macha, who had been working for the Boston Red Sox broadcast team, will manage the team. A press conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Miller Park.

Brenly seems to fit the bill as Brewers' next manager
Based on the apparent criteria, the Brewers can halt their search for a new skipper right now. Cubs TV announcer Bob Brenly has it all: experience, a track record of post-season success, media savvy ... Still, it's not a slam-dunk. One of the only certainties in baseball is that the moves that seem logical, easy and obvious seldom work out that way.

Brewers Notebook: Postseason power outage
A punchless offense brought the Brewers' postseason to a screeching halt. Now, it's time to reevaluate what went wrong, what worked and who will be back next year when Milwaukee tries to take the next step towards a championship. At the top of the to-do list: extending general manager Doug Melvin's deal and deciding whether or not to retain Dale Sveum.

NLDS Notebook: Offense getting more offensive
A lack of consistent hitting has been problematic for the Brewers all season. But even after a downright brutal September, the offense has gotten even worse for the Brewers in the playoffs -- they've managed just three runs on seven hits while falling behind, 2-0, to the Phillies. And nobody has struggled more than right fielder Corey Hart.

NLDS Game 2 Recap: Phillies 5, Brewers 2
CC Sabathia has been as dominant as any pitcher in baseball since joining the Brewers in early July. The dominance came to an end Thursday, when he lasted just 3 2/3 innings and allowed five runs on six hits -- all for extra bases -- including a grand slam as the Brewers fell, 5-2 to the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.
