Busy Beans & Barley is always worth the wait
Though business is steady for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the atmosphere at Beans & Barley, 1901 E. North Ave., always quiet and calming. Even the people waiting for tables seem at peace (unlike the frenetic crowds you find in some restaurant waiting lines). Once seated, you'll find a pleasing variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian sandwiches, soups and dishes made with fresh ingredients that will leave you pleasantly stuffed.

"Festival Express" recalls rock's youthful passion
"Festival Express" serves as a beautiful reminder of the musical innocence that once existed in harmony with the music industry; when artists performed every night as if it were their last and writing their own legacy every moment while executives looked on, glowingly.

Los Huaraches is East Side's answer to authentic Mexican
It's ironic that an authentic Mexican restaurant opened inside a space formerly occupied by a fast food franchise, but that's exactly what happened when Los Huaraches (3116 N. Downer Ave.) took over a former Wendy's.

Chipotle feels familiar
The chain of burrito eateries, owned by McDonald's, opened its first Milwaukee location recently near the East Point Pick 'n' Save. It looks a little different, but otherwise, the upscale fast food restaurant is a lot like another chain.

Reader poll
Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
This is like choosing the least painful way to die.
