The best of the best burgers?
I finally ate lunch at Five Guys Burgers and Fries today, and, you know, they make a mighty fine burger. But Kopp's doesn't have much to worry about. Others have raved and raved and raved about Five Guys, which makes me wonder if Milwaukee really is the home of the world's best burger?

Creative burgers, extras make Stack'd worth a stop
It seems that the culinary scene is undergoing a burger revolution of sorts, with media outlets pumping out articles on the hunt for the perfect burger, sliders cropping up on menus of restaurants large and small and a trend forming towards "gourmet" grass-fed beef. Stack'd, the burger bar at 170 S. 1st St., has found a winning combination of beef, beer and extras.

Tracing Milwaukee's dining trends
One of the most interesting, and beneficial, aspects of my job at OnMilwaukee.com is how in tune I feel with my city, whether it's access to inside tips on new attractions (which we, of course, share with all of you), or just being hyper-conscious of the trends as they cycle through over the years.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries opening in Third Ward?
Five Guys Burgers and Fries is searching for a location in the Third Ward. Or, that's the rumor. Sources say it could occupy a space at 309 N. Water St., most recently Hers, a women's boutique that closed in February.

Sonic booms in Brew City
When Sonic opened last month, Milwaukeeans came out in droves to check out the newest burger on the block, and eager customers waited up to two hours for a spot in the 20-stall drive-in. OnMilwaukee.com decided to see what all the hype was about and to find out if Sonic is worth the wait.

Milwaukee's best bar food, 2008: Hooligan's
Although The Wicked Hop came close this year, this "super bar" keeps winning Milwaukee's best bar food for a reason. They've taken the greasy grub you expect at a bar and elevated it to include lean ostrich burgers, grilled portabella mushroom sandwiches, Cajun catfish fillets and quite a bit more. And if you want straight-up bar burgers, Hooligan's doesn't disappoint.

Well-branded Patty Burger offers a good alternative
In early January, Bryan Majewski brought Patty Burger, 1952 N. Farwell Ave., a popular Chicago Adams Street venue, to Milwaukee’s East Side, and plopped her down kitty-corner to Comet Café.
