Crisp to cut slices on Brady Street
Crisp will be a lunch and dinner stop for New York style pizza by the slice or pie. But, pizza is just the start. The menu will also feature a create-your-own tossed salad with over 40 fresh vegetables, meats and fruits cut daily. In addition to pizza and salad, Crisp will serve panini's and wraps.

Hosed on Brady fires up the East Side
As Milwaukee institutions like At Random, Art Bar and The Foundation have come to show, when a bar gets a theme right, it is oh, so very right. Hosed on Brady, a firefighter inspired bar, is the latest to gather memorabilia and pull in the real deal in the hopes of joining ranks with some of Milwaukee's favorites.

Welcome to the "Loom Room" at Rochambo
The East Side's Rochambo, 1317 E. Brady St., has been a long-standing sanctuary for artists, writers, group organizers and lone thinkers to tinker with creativity and intellect over a cup of coffee or tea. A big part of what makes the space more than just another café to quench your thirst is the rotating art exhibits gracing the walls of the common areas.

The Burger Joint continues Brady Street tradition
When Mike Schmidt closed his original Bella's Fat Cat location in April 2008, it seemed as though Brady Street would be forever changed without a nice, easy spot to grab a great burger for the right price. A neighbor to the south Mazen Muna didn't want to see that happen, so he opened The Burger Joint in its wake.

Brady Street celebrates spring with Flower Power
Sadly, many of us missed out on the multitude of outdoor Earth Day activities this past April thanks to the two-day torrential downpour Mother Nature provided. But May is blooming in Milwaukee, not only with the month-long Project EverGreen, but also with Brady Street's annual Flower Power street festival, Saturday, May 9.

Fashion runs in the family for stylish sister stores
Lady Pink opened mid-April in the former Anomaly Design Shop at 816 E. Brady St., but you certainly don't need this article to know that it has arrived. The façade is freshly painted in fuchsia and rose, and inside, the clothing collection squeals with flirty femininity.

It's Hammer time for fashion on Brady Street
Last year was an especially tough period for Milwaukee fashion, and the city took some pretty hard blows with the loss of a few prominent boutiques. Thankfully, state-of-the-scene reporting is beginning to shift and the second quarter is starting to show some promise in the independent retail sector.

Milwaukee's best Brady St. bar, 2009: The Nomad
The competition is pretty tough on and around Brady Street, where there are more great bars than most neighborhoods have bars good, bad and otherwise. But, The Nomad World Pub is one of the longer-lived and more beloved places on the street, where it has anchored the corner of Brady and Warren for more than a dozen years.

Milwaukee's best bar district, 2009: Bay View
The fact that Bay View won the readers' choice award for best Milwaukee bar district really says something about this up-and-coming neighborhood. Five years ago, you'd find plenty of bars in the South Side neighborhood, but almost everyone who patronized them lived down the street.

Sadly, another Milwaukee business is closing its doors at the end of this month. Anomaly Design Shop, the Brady Street gift boutique, will close Feb. 1. Located at 816 E. Brady St., Anomaly opened in 2006 to sell kitschy, design laden gifts, paper goods and accessories inspiring creativity.

Milwaukee's best bakery, 2008: Peter Sciortino's
Peter Sciortino's Bakery, a Brady Street institution for decades, has little competition, according to OnMilwaukee.com readers, who again -- for the fourth year in a row -- voted it Milwaukee's best bakery. Everything is made from scratch daily, resulting in incredibly fresh baked good. Even typing about it is making us hungry ...

Reader poll
Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
This is like choosing the least painful way to die.
