On the town in Milwaukee: Less than a year and counting
We've rolled into the final year of smoky bars and cigarettes over beers. At least indoors that is. The impending city wide and statewide smoking ban goes into effect July 5, 2010 and so with less than a year left, Milwaukeeans have a limited time to embrace and enjoy their tobacco filled evenings.

Go bowling for a great cause
It's not like you should need an excuse to go bowling on a Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee, but here's one, anyway: If you can put together a team and participate in "Ape's Bowling 'Cause We Care-A-Thon" this weekend at Bay View Bowl, you'll be helping out to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

On the town in Milwaukee: Do you join in on "Sunday funday?"
Where Sunday was previously reserved for recovery and respite in time for work Monday morning, someone coined the "Sunday funday" slogan, effectively adding another night of late night social drinking to the weekend.

Rich bowled a 300
Exactly one year ago on Saturday, I wrote a blog titled, "Rich bowled a 298." Last night, Rich Babcock managed to avoid leaving two pins in the 10th frame, as he did last year, and improved to his first perfect game.

Rich bowled a 298
There's a guy that I bowl with on Wednesdays who did something spectacular last night. In addition to shooting a 760 series, which in the ranks of amateur bowlers, is incredibly good, Rich Babcock took a perfect game into the final roll of the 10th frame.

Falling back into bowling
Back in 2001, a group of friends and I decided to put our money where our mouths were and learn how to bowl for real. We figured that if we were going to call ourselves true blue Milwaukeeans, we needed to become more than casual, sloppy bowlers using house balls and rented shoes. We knew it was silly and ridiculous, and we didn't care.

Bay View Bowl earns high marks for revitalizing KK, sport
BVB, as the regulars call it, is part of a renaissance, both in the area and in the business of running a successful bowling alley. For a brother, sister and their spouses, who grew up in Bay View and around the sport, it seemed perfectly natural to pounce on the opportunity to buy the alley that was practically in their own backyard.
