Citing "significant deterioration," the Department of Transportation announced plans to rebuild three bridge structures in the Zoo Interchange.

City hikes fees on cab rides, snow removal and more
Among the plethora of fee increases passed by the Milwaukee Common Council this week is a hidden one that will not effect the city coffers at all -- a substantial increase in taxi cab rates. Milwaukee already has among the highest cab rates country -- including, for a period of time, more expensive than rates in Chicago and Toronto.

Common Council scoffs at DOT's interchange plan
The state Department of Transportation took its road show to the Common Council last week briefing Milwaukee officials on its plan to redo the Zoo interchange. DOT says it is the busiest interchange in the state and needs some help in moving vehicles along. They offered a new road term called the "Texas U-turn." But it didn't get a warm reception.

State sets sights on rebuilding the Zoo Interchange
Just as commuters are breaking in the new Marquette Interchange, state highway officials are getting ready to start selling plans for rebuilding the Zoo Interchange. With 345,900 vehicles a day passing through each day, the interchange is the busiest in the state. Public hearings are next week.

Marquette Interchange: the final verdict
When the Marquette Interchange was under construction, I couldn't wait until opened so that the clogs could open up like some magic traffic Drano. But now that it's done, shouldn't things be moving more freely?
