In spring, politicians' thoughts turn to wheel tax
In a move sure to rattle the cages of the anti-tax crowd, three Milwaukee aldermen are proposing a $20 annual fee to register all vehicles in the City of Milwaukee.

Here's one way to get God out of your face, buy real estate. The Freedom From Religion Foundation, a Madison-based national state / church watchdog offered $1,200 for a 990-ft. bite of land on what is known as the "Star Hill" cross site in Holmen, Wis.

Observations from the political winds
It's been a somewhat lackluster spring election in the City of Milwaukee -- except maybe for an open aldermanic seat on the East Side and the Ald. Michael McGee vote -- as incumbents are facing relatively weak opponents who got late starts. But there have been some interesting developments.
