Recollections of another inauguration
As America turns its eyes to soon-to-be President Obama's inauguration this morning, I'm instead looking back to my only experience at a presidential inauguration in 1993. I was just a freshman at George Washington University when Bill Clinton took the oath of office, a mere 18 years old that blustery January morning. I remember a handful of specifics about that week, though in retrospect, not as many as I'd like.

Washington DC: rubber chickens, chocolate body paint and hot sauces... my type of place
The Smithsonian. The Washington Monument. The White House. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Lincoln Memorial. All of the above are things commonly thought of and visited when someone goes to Washington D.C. And rightfully so. They are an important part of our nation’s history and...

D.C. without me?......
During a night of pondering the simple question, “why do I deserve a trip to Washington D.C.?”, engulfed in the murky, but savory swallows of an over poured Jim Beam rye & coke, I have came to the conclusion that the reason why can only be justified by my ability to surrender to m...

I'll Bust This Recession In DC
I’m enjoying this “Recession Buster Giveaways” series because every new city gives me a new chance to dream about a vacation to that place. Washington D.C. is no exception. That place sounds like it is chock full of things to do. And even though I was there when I was a kid, I t...

Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
This is like choosing the least painful way to die.
