Why is this video not getting more Milwaukee media attention?

Two people brazenly and brutally stomp and beat a woman outside a north side Milwaukee gas station while other people watch. Then, a video of it turns up online. Yet, if you Google the video, you discover that this story is getting a lot of national media attention on various websites - and almost none locally.


"Powerful leader" Pitre draws on personal experience to combat violence

When Carmen Pitre worked for the AIDS Project in the late 1980s, she saw terminally ill young people abandoned by everyone, even their families. Now, reports Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service, serving as the executive director of Milwaukee's Sojourner Family Peace Center, Pitre has been working to alleviate the pain of society's most vulnerable people for more than 30 years.


Local leaders say root causes must be addressed before violence can end

Through the first five months of 2015, 63 homicides have occurred in the city of Milwaukee, compared with 94 in all of 2014. Talking to Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service, local leaders in the communities most affected by violence say its causes are complex and deep-rooted, and that solutions are hard to find.
