What Tropical Records and MPD have in common
Although I don't ever expect to find my name, I always scour the unclaimed property lists that these days take up more space in the local newspaper than actual news. I look for the names of my family members, too. When the list first appeared over the weekend, I noticed something curious. The Milwaukee Police Department has something in common with Jamaican-American record shops of the past.

In its heyday the Caribbean Inn vibrated with life
Most days, either going to work or heading back home, I pass a boarded up building on 24th and Walnut that looks pretty unassuming but still vibrates with life for me. I'm talking about the days of the Caribbean Inn, a neighborhood place that welcomed everyone with a Red Stripe or Dragon Stout.

"Fisherman" takes me back to Tropical Milwaukee
Britain's Blood and Fire label -- known for its reissues of classic '70s roots music -- has rowed back into the reggae fray with "Fisherman Style" (credited to The Congos & Friends), a disc of newly voiced tunes built atop the classic Lee Perry-produced "Fisherman" by The Congos. It reminds Bobby Tanzilo of Nigel Scott's Tropical Records.

Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
This is like choosing the least painful way to die.
