When you walk into Draft & Vessel, a beer bar in Shorewood at 4147 N. Oakland Ave., the first thing you notice is its size. The intimate space, reminiscent of small basement bars in Europe, houses a beautiful, rustic wooden bar and a few tables. Yet the 16 taps are so thoughtfully curated that you may think you were in Portland if you didn't know better.

The first phase of construction officially begins today on an 85,000-square foot, two-level flagship Roundy's Metro Market in the Village of Shorewood. Completion is estimated for January 2016.

Niche Ranking System recently announced its "Best Public Schools in Wisconsin" list for 2015, and all four of Shorewood schools made it into the top 20. Other area communities like Whitefish Bay, Elm Grove and Brookfield also are well represented.

Earlier this month, Steph Davies announced that her art and gift consignment shop, Waxwing, would close at the end of February. Well, plans have changed and The Waxwing will remain open through January 2016.
