Sports fans love to argue. Would the '75 Reds have beaten the '27 Yankees? Should Pete Rose be in the Hall of Fame? Most of the time, concrete statistics and on-field results bolster the debate. Sometimes, though, it's fun to delve into the hypothetical and ask "What if?" What if Brett Favre hadn't thrown that interception to set up Lawrence Tynes' game-winning field goal in the NFC Championship Game?

Saturday Scorecard: CC makes the pressure point
While hoping for a Christmas miracle, many Brewers fans told themselves that CC Sabathia might prefer the low-key environment in Milwaukee over the "fishbowl" life in New York. After signing a huge deal with the Yankees, Sabathia shot down that theory and gave a window into the inner thoughts of big-time free agents.

Saturday Scorecard: Salary cap isn't the answer
Though it's frustrating for Brewers fans to watch star players like Ben Sheets and CC Sabathia slip out of the team's grasp, calls for a salary cap aren't rooted in reality. If a cap is implemented, the Brewers would likely still lose out on marquee free agents but would also pay more for middle-of-the-road players.

Saturday Scorecard: Will the Packers soar or flop?
The Packers (5-6) are neither as good as they looked two weeks ago against Chicago nor as bad as they looked Monday night in New Orleans. Their season-long inability to play solid defense at the point of attack is not a hallmark of a team destined for playoff success and could be a problem in a key matchup against Carolina Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field.

Diehard Brewers fans can uncross their fingers and step away from the rabbit's feet and four-leaf clovers. Chances of the Brewers retaining CC Sabathia evaporated when the Yankees reportedly offered the ace lefty a six-year, $140 million contract. Milwaukee fans will be left with the wonderful memories of Sabathia's 18 games, 134 1/3 innings, 537 batters faced and 1,979 pitches.
