Final playoff musings
I had hoped to write this final Brewers playoff blog in a few weeks. But while my heart thought we'd go all the way, my brain knew a little better. And with Jeff Suppan taking the mound yesterday, these thoughts started swirling early.

Mission unaccomplished for Suppan, Brewers
When the Brewers signed veteran right-hander Jeff Suppan to a four-year, $42 million contract before the 2007 season, they were banking on his experience and reputation as a "big-game" pitcher. In one of the bigger games in 26 years, Suppan came up short and doomed the club to a season-ending 6-2 loss to Philadelphia.

Brewers 2B Weeks will undergo knee surgery
Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks tore the meniscus in his left knee Saturday night and will undergo surgery. Rookie infielder Alcides Escobar will replace Weeks on the roster.

Brewers beat Phillies, live to fight another day
With a strong start from Dave Bush and an opportunistic offense led by Mike Cameron, Bill Hall and J.J. Hardy (pictured), the Brewers take a 4-1 victory over Philadelphia in Game 3 of the National League Division Series. Game 4 is slated for noon Sunday.

Phillies lefty Jamie Moyer is a tough competitor, but FSN Wisconsin analyst Jeff Cirillo thinks that Dave Bush and some smart offense will help the Brewers win Game 3 of the National League Division Series tonight at Miller Park.
