This latest snow fall made me realize something. I've never called dibs here. I'm not alone. I don't see any Milwaukeeans shoveling out angled parking spots or street parking spots and calling dibs on their handiwork.
You know, "dibs." See, this is a real thing that real people do - specifically 90 miles south of us in Chicago. And it's serious business.

The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works has lifted the snow emergency and the 4-inch rule as of noon on Tuesday, Feb. 3. In addition, DPW has completed its overnight snow operations in the 5-Day Parking Exception Area.

When winter hits local television news stations go nuts with the kind of advice we've heard over and over again. Who doesn't know that you ought to slow down if the roads are covered with snow and ice?

What better way to celebrate a birthday in Milwaukee than taking on the parking meter gods with just one quarter, trying a new breakfast, then returning to a tried and true dinner favorite, then taking off to the woods for a ghost tour?

You won't believe this! Today's subject is parking in the City of Milwaukee. I've thought about this a lot over my life, wondering why I hate and fear the parking regulations and those parking checkers so much. But my interest was rekindled by a Facebook post from Circuit Judge Pedro Colon, a guy who I think would be a terrific mayor.
