So, President Obama is having beers with Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates and Sgt. James Crowley of the Cambridge, Mass., police department tonight, in an attempt to ease racial tensions he riled up with a somewhat irresponsible comment at press conference last week. That's kind of cool.

All-Star notebook: Brewers meet the president
Too bad Brewers all-stars Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder and Trevor Hoffman are no longer in grade school. They could write a great paper entitled, "What I did on my summer vacation: Met the President." The three greeted the Commander in Chief before the American League's 4-3 victory Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. "It was pretty special," he said. "It's not something very many people get to experience."
