Even though it's not even 30 years old, Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical retelling of "The Phantom of the Opera" has turned into a truly iconic story, one whose elements are ingrained in the memory even if you haven't seen it. So to tinker around with the show is a bold idea. But that's exactly the case with the upcoming production of the show coming to the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.

"Jersey Boys" ... Oh, what a blight

Joyful. Vibrant. Infectiously fun. Visually exciting and dynamic. These are the words I used to describe "Jersey Boys" back when I reviewed the stage production at the Marcus Center last fall. In a bold move, Clint Eastwood has captured the spirit of those adjectives and locked it in a cage somewhere far, far away from his film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning jukebox musical.

Sondheim gets strong treatment from Theatre Unchained's "Company"

If God had meant for man to live alone, he would never have made Eve. That's the central theme of the Stephen Sondheim play "Company," currently running at Theatre Unchained through April 27. It is a delightful evening of song and theater, a good story and great music.
