New Son Volt offers a different take
Son Volt version 2.0 arguably reaches the heights of the original version, but is different. So, keeping the name remains a mystery, except that it allows Farrar to move back into a band setting without having to reintroduce himself.

Handsome Family makes the most of home studio
Albuquerque's The Handsome Family plays at Shank Hall next week and we've been spinning the duo's seventh disc, "Last Days of Wonder" (Carrot Top Records) in the office a lot lately. I'll admit that partially because we're chuckling a lot at the lyrics on tunes like "After We Shot the Grizzly."
