Door County is something of a ghost town this time of year - and frankly, that's just how we like it. Seeing Fish Creek, Ephraim, Egg Harbor and Sister Bay all but abandoned in the middle of winter is reminiscent of the tranquil, removed setting and slowed-down pace that made these towns a tourist hotspot in the first place.

I'm not a guy who normally supports banning things. But I'd be in favor of a law that banned ownership of dogs who are bred to fight and attack. Just like we should ban attack weapons, we should also ban dogs that aren't much good for anything other than attacking people or animals.

Though we hardly live at them, we've become something of a water park family. This weekend, taking the advice of Molly Snyder, we visited Blue Harbor in Sheboygan.

That's Manitowoc for ya. A town with a lot of great stuff to do with the family, and something of an image problem. We built an easy and fun little getaway around a visit to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and fittingly, that's where we started after our roughly 90-minute drive from Milwaukee.

Have to admit it, despite the cold temperatures, the spotlight is keeping all of us warm. During last night's State Of The Union speech by Barack Obama, we were already basking in the glow from the success of a certain professional football team last Sunday.
