UWM dance celebrates 45 years with a winter show
If the snow doesn't have you kicking up your heels, UWM Dance Department's upcoming "Winterdances: Human / Being" concert might get you into the swing of the season. The concert -- which includes new and revived works -- takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5 and is repeated at the same time on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6 and 7 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8 at UWM's Mainstage Theatre, 2400 E. Kenwood Blvd.

For Jahmes Tony Finlayson, drumming is more than a hobby. It's also a spiritual practice and a way of life for Finlayson, who is a member of One Drum, Ko-Thi African Dance Company and the jazz ensemble Clamnation.

Ko-Thi is one of Milwaukee's cultural treasures
The Ko-Thi Dance Company, founded in 1969 by Ferne Yangyeitie Caulker, a native of Sierra Leone, West Africa and a UWM professor, Milwaukee's African dance troupe that has spent the last 30 years educating as well as entertaining audiences worldwide.
