The changing face of those in need
Food banks, pantries and meal programs need donations more than ever as demand is at a decades-long peak. Meanwhile, hundreds of new families and individuals -- once donors to food pantries -- are finding themselves suddenly unemployed and struggling to put food on the table.

Quest cards help local, low-income people
For decades, low-income people paid for their food with a ticket-like tender called "food stamps." Today, the stamps have been replaced with Quest cards. More than 148,000 people in Milwaukee have a Quest card, and although they are not required to, most grocery stores accept them. Some, however, do not. We wondered why.
