Cafe Centraal eases into old Gil's space
Mike Eitel remembers driving from Cedarburg to Downer Avenue as soon as he got a driver's license, and two decades later, is psyched to be a part of the scene again. Eitel - along with the "Diablos Rojos" restaurant group -- will open Café Centraal in the former Gils' Cafe.

"No other festival in town features Texas-style music and food in an environment that actually feels faintly Texan -- it's usually hot, the pony rides lend a ranch-like quality, there's plenty of rowdiness and the sounds are definitively honky tonk," says Jennifer Geigel, ex-Texan and vocalist for Pinto. Gil Fest takes place Sat., Aug. 24.
