Varda's documentary paints unusual picture of modern France
Although the ancient practice of gleaning -- gathering the leftover crop after harvest -- on the surface seems to be much less common than in the past, when most rural families can recall gleaning on a daily basis, French filmmaker Agnes Varda suggests that's not the case in "The Gleaners and I," screened this weeked at UWM.
