With the Super Bowl approaching kickoff, I was reminded of a CNN story from the other night about the increased demand for escorts and women of the night during the big weekend. The story reminded me of Super Bowl XIII in Miami in 1979, which I covered.

Country station WMIL-FM 106.1 continued its run last month as the most listened to station in the market with a 9.4 rating, and Journal Broadcast-owned WTMJ-AM 620 finished in second place with a 7.7.

In his mind, Richie Incognito was Jonathan Martin's brother. So, in his mind, that allowed him to treat Martin as less than a person and call him a word born out of hate. And the upper management of the Miami Dolphins allowed it all to happen.

The NFL may make noises about the incident between Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin down in Miami, but until the league takes a stance that provides for outlawing any forms of harassment and strict and severe penalties for violations, we will continue to see instances like this.
