A lot of folks descend the stairs into the Cave of the Mounds in Blue Mounds, west of Madison, and marvel at the great acoustics. That's one natural feature that makes the annual Caroling in the Cave Music Series so perfect for the caverns, which we dubbed one of the Seven Wonders of Wisconsin a few years ago. Now in its seventh year, Caroling in the Cave is a three-day event that is slated for Friday-Sunday, Dec. 6-8 this year.

If you've ever felt like crawling into a cave, there are good opportunities to do so in Wisconsin. Probably the best-known cave in Wisconsin is Cave of the Mounds near Blue Mound in South Central Wisconsin. Discovered in 1939, it opened to the public in 1940.
