Brewers to Dale Sveum: "Thanks, but no thanks."
The Brewers announced a trio of moves tonight. They gave general manager Doug Melvin a three-year contract extension that will keep him in Milwaukee through 2012, removed Dale Sveum from consideration for the manager's job and dismissed hitting coach Jim Skaalen. Melvin continues his search for a manager and experience could be a key factor in the decision.

Saturday Scorecard: A very important free agent
While Brewers fans continue to fantasize about the club signing CC Sabathia, another important free agent is hanging out at home in Hartland, waiting for the phone to ring. Pitching coach Mike Maddux's contract with the team is set to expire and -- depending what happens with the manager -- it's uncertain whether he will return to the club next season.
