A new production of "The Phantom of the Opera" haunts the Marcus
Even though it's not even 30 years old, Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical retelling of "The Phantom of the Opera" has turned into a truly iconic story, one whose elements are ingrained in the memory even if you haven't seen it. So to tinker around with the show is a bold idea. But that's exactly the case with the upcoming production of the show coming to the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.

Discover LEGOLAND fun much closer than Florida
At LEGOLAND in Florida - and presumably the California location, too - there is a "miniland" of American urban skylines recreated diminutively with LEGO bricks. It's one of the highlights of the huge parks. But, if you can't get there to see it, don't worry. The LEGOLAND Discovery Center in suburban Chicago is itself a mini version of the outdoor LEGOLAND, though entirely inside. And, best of all, even the Discovery Center has a miniland.

It was one of those message moments when the message didn't slide by, but landed with full force in the middle of your mind. "We live only as much as our imaginations will allow." And that line perfectly sums up "Midsummer in Midwinter," the imagination sojourn being staged by Theatre Gigante.

"3 Days to Kill" is a mess of the most watchable order
"3 Days to Kill" is a film that defies the star rating system. It is, by almost all counts, a bad movie, a bloated dumpster fire of tonal confusion, amateur craftsmanship, subplots turned main plots and vice versa. Yet I was entertained - sometimes even intentionally so.
