The jazzy retro style of Guy Ritchie's "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." is slinky fun, but enjoy it while you can because, like a toddler, if you take your eyes off it for a second to grab your drink or glance at your watch or merely blink, it is gone, a whooshing little breeze where it once used to be on screen and in your mind. The projector might as well be one of those neuralizers from "Men in Black."

Whisker war: A night at Uptowner's third annual beard contest
The Uptowner was packed and not just for a late Sunday afternoon. Jock Jams blared from the speakers, and anticipation was in the air. On two TVs at separate ends of the bar, the Wisconsin-Michigan State game was coming down to the wire. But that wasn't the contest the excited and eager crowd was here to see. No, the main event was the Uptowner's third annual beard competition.

Indie rock band King Washington plants its flag in Milwaukee
King Washington - comprised of bassist Billy Lee and guitarists Tyson Kelly and George Krikes - hails from Los Angeles, so it's safe to say the recent hammering of cold winds and sleet isn't exactly something they're used to. The guys are more used to wearing petticoats and frills - their signature outfit - than heavy winter coats. Even with the weather, though, Milwaukee feels like a second home for the indie rock band.
