There are always plenty of food-related events going on in Milwaukee. But here are four that caught my eye, including a bakery demonstration focused on vanilla, a gluten-free cider dinner at Bacchus, a pig roast and bonfire, and Milwaukee's annual Empty Bowls fundraiser.

A slew of promising new television shows of all sorts of genres will be premiering in the upcoming weeks. Each has their own goal to thrill, enlighten, sadden or even shock audiences. Of course, during every pilot season, there are shows that seem more promising than others and below are my picks of shows that seem the most likely not to get cancelled half way through the first season (but yet, you still never know).

Papineau sprouts multiple healthy eating offerings
Kathy Papineau has dedicated her life to the earth, community, economy and the individual. Last fall, Papineau opened a commercial kitchen in Riverwest, called MkeKitchen, at 531 E. Keefe Ave. She leases the space to multiple local businesses and operates her own catering business, Mke Localicious.
