Filling the void with "Hard Knocks"
Looking to fill a nightly void that the Brewers collapse has created, I have gone in search of new entertainment. "The Premier League" has begun with a few upsets and, last but not least, the jewel of the past five training camps: "Hard Knocks."

Scarcity of pitching makes development a key
The Brewers aren't ready to give up on lefty Manny Parra. They can't. With pitching scarce, clubs have to nurture and develop young arms.

Getting a kick out of a huge soccer match
The much-anticipated UEFA Champions League final took place yesterday in Rome yesterday in what amounted to a dream match -- Manchester United vs. Barcelona. In a rare occurrence, the match lived up to the hype.

Emotions run the gamut during Brewers' streak
I shouldn't be depressed, but I am. As soon as Rickie Weeks was replaced after his first at-bat on Sunday, I had a bad feeling that this wasn't something minor. Reality struck Monday when the news from Arizona said the Weeks would be out for the year with a torn tendon sheath -- this time in his left wrist.

What's the big deal with Braun?
I can't figure out what all of the hubbub over the behavior of Ryan Braun is all about. Seriously, is he the first guy to watch some of his home runs? Is it really any different than Sammy Sosa hopping out of the box every time he even hit a ball out of the infield?

An eighth of the way in, the Crew looks good
Over the first 20 games there have been a few noticeable differences in the Crew under Ken Macha and his outstanding coaching staff. First and foremost, hitting coach Dale Svuem seems to have had a big impact on what can tend to be a free-swinging team.

Don't panic just yet, Brewers fans
For the same reason there wasn't a parade down Wisconsin Avenue last year when the Brewers started 24-10, there isn't a reason to fire the manager and throw shovelfuls of dirt on the 2008 season.

Reasons behind Weaver?
If the rumor is in fact true that the Brewers have acquired the much-maligned Jeff Weaver, it definitely offers up some questions as to the purpose behind this signing.

The college bowl diaries
I'm exhausted! Even the most adamant of college football fans has to be a bit fatigued after 15 straight days of football (including the NFL). In general it is every football fan's dream -- not having to worry when a game will be on.

Roloff riffs on Wisconsin sports
Over the course of a month many things can happen in the world of sports. Some are crammed down your throat (Terrell Owens) and others just morph in front of your eyes (2005 Green Bay Packers). What we take -- or choose to ignore -- from these events is what makes us true sports fans.

Going into the final weekend of the regular Major League Baseball season, it is worth stopping to realize that this may be the greatest finish since the advent of divisional play in 1969. With that in mind, columnist Dave Roloff hands out some postseason awards.

The Curse of the Brewerbino
The goat is famous on the streets of Chicago. The Bambino swung his mighty curse for 90 years in Boston. Even so, both of those teams are regulars in October. But the Brewers haven't seen the right side of .500 in 12 years. Could it be the curse of the Brewerbino?

There are times where the stars align and issues that span more than just the world of sports collide. The impending hearings to confirm John Roberts as the country's next Supreme Court Justice will most certainly focus on his opposition to Title IX.

MLB held its annual amateur selection draft this past week, and all 30 teams re-stocked their farm systems. Mostly with players even those that follow baseball have never even heard of. This was the 41st edition of the annual June Draft, but the original format is now outdated.
