Life out of a suitcase: the sports reporter's world
Working as a reporter for MLB Network obviously requires a lot of travel, but to be completely forthright, I asked for this situation. I could have done more studio work, but I chose the planes, trains and automobiles over the office alternative.

A sweet 16 time capsule
Just before I left for spring training, the father of a 5-year-old girl in California e-mailed and asked if I would write his daughter a letter--for her 16th birthday-- in 2019. Talk about pre-planning a present.

The mindful Metro
What's a girl to do when she wants to combine a night away from home, while still making sure the paper gets recycled? In Milwaukee, there's no better place for an eco-friendly "staycation" than Hotel Metro, 411 E. Mason St.

Child's play in the Big Apple
Following two interactions with kids at New York museums, I couldn't help but wonder on my walk home, how do adults manage to always complicate things in life? Aren't we supposed to be smarter and more self-aware than grade-schoolers?

The common misconception about leaving Milwaukee
The past month I've been choking back a lot of tears. When something wonderful happens to a person, in my case getting a dream job, the common misconception is that now I only see life through rose-colored glasses.

If you wish (NYC edition) ...
As the years passed, the dream stayed the same: live in New York and work at the network level. While some girls wished on stars for men to sweep them off their feet, I prayed, wished and hoped for a network exec to come calling.

Run like the wind
On Oct. 5, I completed my third career marathon at the Lakefront Marathon in Milwaukee. To some, that may seem impressive; in reality it pales in comparison to many of the men and women I run alongside. Some of my trail mates have ten or 20 times the amount of marathons under their fuel belts than I do.

Like Milwaukee, Pittsburgh feels like home
I was more than caught off guard as my eyes welled up with tears. This was a place I wanted to leave and now I was overcome by emotion upon my return.

Color blind
Let's face it, there is no way to avoid the race issue leading up to the November election. I'm just hoping it does not become the key issue.

It's not easy being green
This blog isn't about some sort of inner struggle and trying to fit in. In my case, I'm finding it difficult to make the "green transition" and becoming an environmentally friendly human

Generation Apathy
I often wonder how our current young Americans will be remembered in the future. What will our legacy be? Unfortunately, I don't have a good feeling about how this story will end. If the current trend continues, I'm afraid we'll be known as Generation Apathy.

Gentlemen, stop the texting
Texting is a marvel of technology. It is not a sufficient method of forming a new relationship with someone of the opposite sex.

Reader poll
If you could choose, would you prefer December or March to stay warm and snowless in Milwaukee?
December. I'm not ready for winter yet.
March. By then, I need winter to be over.
There's no use complaining or hoping for better weather in Wisconsin.
Actually, I like snow.
