Here's another shot from Thursday evening's festivities downtown. The City and County Christmas Tree is in Red Arrow Park, just across Water Street from the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Next to the tree is the park's skating rink, which should be open in the next couple ... Posted by milwaukeedailyphoto at 8:43 a.m. | Talkbacks Category: Milwaukee Buzz |

Last night, we went to the Tree Lighting at Red Arrow Park, and the Holiday Lights Kick-off at Pere Marquette Park. We arrived at the tree lighting just as the lights came on, and the crowd dispersed soon afterward. Grabbed a hot chocolate at Starbucks, and walked over to the other si... I was a little surprised when the sirens approaching the house grew louder and louder, then seemed to stop when they got to our front door. The fire truck arrived first, followed by the Paramedic van about 10 minutes later. The van is from the Wauwatosa Fire Department, and must have ... This mural is painted on one of the garage doors on the Alterra Coffee location on Prospect Avenue. Many of the Alterra locations use "recycled" buildings, keeping many of the unique architectural features intact and maintaining the buildings' character. ===== A larger versi... Well, so much for yesterday's comment about "before the snow hits"... we got a round of pretty heavy scattered flurries yesterday, turning the bridges and overpasses into skating rinks, and generally snarling traffic all over the area. Salt trucks have already been out on the roads, and... Posted by milwaukeedailyphoto at 9:29 a.m. | Talkbacks Category: Milwaukee Buzz |

Over the summer, I was at the Miller Meet at the Milwaukee Mile, and could not resist this box of gauges for sale. Reminds me I should get the cars in for service before the snow hits. ===== A larger version of this photo is available by going to http://milwaukeeda... These labels are found on many of the storm drains around the lakefront. I'm not sure how many panfish are in the lake, but I guess the point gets across. I would have preferred a nice lake trout or a salmon myself. :) ===== A larger version of this photo is available by going to http... A big tip of the hat to MKEDP reader Chris, who sent me an email about this billboard at 27th Street and Wisconsin Avenue. The billboard at this spot was removed, revealing a much older advertisment for the Randolph Hotel. The hotel was built in the late 1920's by the Randolph Broth... Born in China to Italian parents, Mark di Suvero is a prolific scupltor, with works all over the US and around the world. Milwaukee is home to some of his pieces, including this one, "The Calling". The sculpture has been controversial since its installation in 1982, and continues to be ... Posted by milwaukeedailyphoto at 7:37 a.m. | Talkbacks Category: Milwaukee Buzz |

While I've featured the Milwaukee Art Museum before, I've resisted the temptation to post a solo photo of the outside of what is now our most famous building. No longer. Taken from the west end of the suspension bridge, this photo shows the brise soleil fully open in the morning light.===== A lar...
