KINGS GO FART
Kings Go Forth! At Turner Hall they sounded AMAZING!!!
They didn't sound like crap at all. Definitely going to Solstice. From everything I've been reading I think KGF and Andy Noble want you to know they ain't no ‘boogie men' and the music you listen to is a trend and that trend that they are not part of... is garbage. The music they make/listen to is meaningful and relevant. 3 years from now you will be listening to KGF and records Andy Noble has discovered... not Sharon Jones or for god sakes Radiohead... or White Stripes... or whatever you frat boys listen to these days. This music is more important than your music or even that music. They aren't overly sanctimonious and uptight or even hypocritical snobs like orthodox jews. This isn't monetary or materialism putting value on art for one's own gain meanwhile dismissing competitors like a clever salesman. This isn't cleverness or Intellectualism. This isn't exploiting black culture. This isn't like trying to sell black sploitation cosby art to ‘rich' white suburban people in the 80's and 90's. This isn't the umpteenth incarnation of some form of ‘noble gallery'. This isn't about poor un-savvy black people with no internet having their soul records exploited away from them due to their economic situation. This isn't self-hype big headed inbreeding and egos this is soulful music. They aren't the brewers musically, meaning they aren't the local losers that the townies will always support. This isn't an overbearing mom forcing her children to make The Earth Wind and Fire band that she always wanted... through grooming, selective mentoring and conspiring. This isn't some sort of octopus conspiracy with a blowtorch at the center. This has nothing to do with Hanson or Jonas Brothers or anything like that... This isn't like some big contrived end result to decades of some parent imposing their dreams on their children. This is ‘homespun' funk. This isn't some over glorified jam band that sounds like crap live and gets away with amateurish production because that's the sound they were aiming for... and no that is not an excuse to set their sights low. This isn't a Curtis Mayfield Tribute or Cover band... One Day isn't Move On Up. This isn't some overly preplanned rehearsed novelty. This has nothing to do with the 60's or 70's this is now! This isn't about somebody's mom ‘networking' with every DJ and musician, journalist, toadie in town... This isn't about some crazy woman who thinks she can predict which song comes on the radio next... smoking roaches as she ‘keeps her head to sky' dropping the kids off at the skate park. This isn't about chronies and conformity! This is about intuition and spontaneity! This is a huge surprise to all of you... that they have done this... none of you could have seen this coming. This didn't start with the Pacers... the Pacers didn't start the fire... it was the mom's famous mix tape... his family was like the Jackson Five growing up... they weren‘t the trendiest kids of all time... but if they were then... that was their final fad... like the Beatles... the fad that never ended... soul music transcends all of this... all reality too. He is like a next-gen musical Norman Borlaug and KGF is like a new musical strain of wheat or something. Just because they wear costumes don't make this no costume party, baby. KGF is about being positive it's not about hating on everything everyone else does or listens to. It's not about talking out the side of your neck but it is not about being a salesperson either. It's about being active not looking like a motley crew of asthmatic geriatric mental patients flying the cuckoo's nest in there little white frocks. It's not about some time trip, he doesn't wake up and think he is in 1967(whew!), like you know all nostalgic and retro and stuff... yet he just wants to make music that would have sounded good in 1962. That is not a contradiction either.
