So, at the end of the night, I'm sitting with my chef and he's telling me he didn't get me at first because I was so nice.  He automatically thought it was for self-gain, but then realized it's just part of my job in hospitality... i'm damn plesant all the time!

Anyhow, he says, I'm one of the most balanced people he knows but it concerns him that I'm single (as in not a long term relationship).  He says I have so much to offer someone and I'm not sure I feel comfortable agreeing or disagreeing - I suppose it's what you're looking for at the time.  (How f#cking existential, hey?!)

I told him I don't know either, but maybe, just maybe, I was not mean to have a long time partner and rather enjoy a serious of wonderful love affairs... I have had four already.  Do you want me to go into detail?  Ok.  If you want... number one, my first love, so he's automatic.  After that I have nothing good to say about him.  THEN, I feel head over heels in love with a former navy seamen who was currently a stripper in New Orleans.  I moved him up to Milwaukee (BIG mistake), but the love affair continues to this days (but he lives in Tampa now).  And, finally, my Streisand "Man That Got Away," the wine maker/George Clooney look-alike.  Sigh.  I messed that one up pretty bad myself.  And it could have been (and was) really wonderful.

See I told you I'd get more personal after I turned 40.

I don't think I need to make an explict point here, but I will say I take a rather "balanced" stance on my love-life, too.  So for now, I'm cool.

Cheers

Reader poll
Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
This is like choosing the least painful way to die.
