Following the Green Bay Packers thrilling 21-15 victory over the Bears Sunday night at Lambeau Field, Chicago recieved another low blow as LB Brian Urlacher suffered a season-ending wrist injury and will miss the rest of the 2009 season.

Urlacher was injured while making a tackle in the early stages of the third quarter. He did not return to the game.

Bears coach Lovie Smith said Urlacher had dislocated his wrist, but no timetable was set for his return.

Urlacher, a six-time Pro Bowler, had started 49 consecutive games and had only missed seven games total in his brilliant 10-year career.

News of the severity of the injury broke when Urlacher himself sent a brief text message to the Chicago Tribune informing him that his season was indeed over.

Without Urlacher, a key veteran leader and playmaker, the Bears defense will undoubtedly have a difficult time searching for his replacement.

One likely candidate to help fill the void left by Brian Urlacher could be veteran LB Derrick Brooks who remains unsigned, and is familiar with the defensive system that the Bears have in place in Chicago.

I think you should have credited your source. This reads almost verbatim to some other reports I've read.

Reader poll
Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
This is like choosing the least painful way to die.
