After giving it some serious thought, I have decided that while I may not be the most experienced, funny or even capable blogger, I am certainly one of the most excited newcomers wanting to give this world of blogging a try!  Ironically I had just started my own blog about 2 weeks ago, with the intention of growing my blogging and writing skills, and hopefully amusing a few people along the way.   While I have had to really work on my procrastination skills to make blogging more than just an occasional thought, I have come to enjoy finding a topic or idea that just grabs my attention and sends me running for my laptop.  As was the case with this contest to win a trip to L.A.  And following are 5 reasons for picking me to be the lucky winner…….

1)      Because I missed it the first time.  L.A. that is.  Really, I was there and I couldn’t see it through all the smoke.  No, not the smog us Midwesterners who have never been there see in the skyline photos, rather the marijuana smoke from the dope-smoking disaster of a boyfriend I was there with!  Sure I saw some sights, but what I saw most of was a whirlwind of unplanned activity that always ended up shrouded in smoke from the boyfriend and his movie-producer-hopeful of a best friend.  I think I did end up with a good picture of the Hollywood sign on the hill.  But I sure wished I had been able to really take in a few real sights.

2)      I truly need a vacation.  I’d still blog to win this contest even if it was for a 3 hour plane trip!  And throw in a Netbook to boot;  wow, just what a stressed out working mom longs for!  And if the plane serves cheap wine, even better.  I honestly don’t think I’ve left southeast WI in over 6 years, much less had a few quiet moments with alcohol and my own thoughts. 

3)      Because I live in a house with 3 young boys, and all I do is clean bathrooms 24/7.  Oh yeah, and do laundry.  And because I hear Thomas the Train chugging and the Doodlebops getting on the bus in my sleep.  And because I shove countless grilled cheese crusts in my mouth because there are starving people in Africa and I can’t waste the food.  And because I can’t use the bathroom without somebody running in on me.   And because I do everything for my family and nothing for me.   And mostly I could just really use a dose of reality from another state’s point of view.  A chance to see some of the sights that up to this point I only encounter in my weekly lifeline of People magazine.

4)      I just created a new life makeover, which is detailed in my first blog post (can I mention it here?) on Blogspot.   I am one of those writer wanna-be moms who thinks that those kids books must be so easy to write, but never actually puts words down anywhere.  So I started a blog with the intent of finding my voice, centering around life here in WI.  A trip to LA might not fit my blog’s obvious vision, however I can sure tweak it for a trip to LA would without a doubt fit MY vision for a happy me!  And if I win this I will certainly be blogging about OnMilwaukee.com and Airtran, and maybe one or two of my 1200 plus Twitter followers might actually look to see what I have to say.  So a little marketing for you guys to boot.

5)      And seriously, my mother, who is struggling like the rest of us, has a desktop computer that is older than my kids (6+ years).  I have been wanting to get her a newer system, and winning the Netbook would allow me to give her my year old laptop, because I of course would have to keep the Netbook for my up and coming blogging career   J
