Whatever happened to a man picking a woman up, taking her out for a nice meal and respectfully ending the night with a goodnight kiss? Do men no longer feel the need to court a woman? I ask these questions, because the men in this city seem to think that the ideal date is plowing a woman with drinks at the bar, taking her home and then, well...plowing her. Look, I understand that we all need our battery charged every now and then, but can you just put a little bit more effort into?

 My friend Jess met a man through the dating site Match.com who was an attorney looking for love, or at least that's what his profile stated. He said all the right things online and through multiple phone calls, so she decided to arrange a get together. He took her out to a nice restaurant, where he wined and dined her, so to speak. She sent me a secret text message after he had excused himself to the restroom telling me that things were going well.

After finishing their meal, they decided to go out for a couple drinks. It seems that the man's personality completely changed once he got a few gimlets in his system. He became more "grabby", less attentive and utterly sloppy. Jess, wasn't quite sure what to do, but felt very uncomfortable. She told him that maybe it was time to call it a night, but he latched on to her arm and told her "come on baby, let's have a good time". Well, needless to say her "good time" was now over.

When he finally reached for her breast in a drunken stupor, she had enough. She got up to leave, and he grabbed her arm. Several men in the bar saw what happened and rushed over to help her. They pulled the guy off of her, all the while he was screaming how much money and time he wasted on her. She was horrified and couldn't get out of there fast enough. She called me later and explained the situation, and I tried as best I could to be supportive.

 He tried calling her a couple days later to apologize and begged for another date, but at that point the damage was already done. Why do men do these stupid things, and then think that they still have a shot?
