MITCH: Just a few notes before i get started:
1. I work for Milwaukee's ESPN Radio, and love sports - you can hear me with Homer every afternoon at 3pm.
2. I was born and raised in Boston, and love Boston sports.
3. Ellie and I got married about 2 1/2 months ago, in Knoxville.
OK, so there we are. She's a HUGE Peyton and Colts fan, and I am a HUGE Pats fan. I think LT whining about class is both funny and sad. If you are so concerned about class, tell your teammate to stop doing a completely classless choreographed dance every time he sacks someone. So, this past weekend, i was all about the Colts. I don't like the Ravens, and I actually do like the Colts. I may mock them at times, but I try not to do it in front of Ellie. On Sunday, I was SHOCKED the Pats won - they were completely outplayed. I knew they would need a fluke to win, and they got it. Of course, while i cheered for the Colts, or Ellie cheered for the Pats, we both knew that if we got our way, there would be a collision this week. Ellie's college friend Zach even texted us to ask us if the marraige was strong enough. I guess we'll find out.
ELLIE: We had a football weekend. Mitch rooted for the Colts, even acknowledging Viniaterri's dominance (although he has yet to say his name). I rooted hard for the Patriots, although I happily noted their foibles. This weekend was easy. We put on blinders and hoped for our teams came out on top. Now the blinders are off. We know what is coming and it isn't pretty. Mitch's fandom is based on geography--he was born in Boston and mine is based on pure, unadulterated idol worship. I love me some Peyton Manning. I rewind the DVR to watch his commercials and I look for all Peyton related news. When I read about his Patriot demons and the Brady-Manning matchups, I become upset and hurt on his behalf. I have an unnatural addiction to "6'5", 250 quarterbacks with a lasar, rocket arm" that goes back to his college days at Tennessee. His so-far underwhelming (dare I say poor) performance in the play-offs has caused me much alarm. I get WAY too into games and each interception and missed communication somehow feels like a failure. While I appreciate the heroic performance of the Indy D in the past two games, I am much too stressed about my Peyton's showing to really notice how well Freeny, Sanders, et al are doing.
