Be jealous of me right now. As you're still trapped in your cubicle I'm enjoying freshly shucked oysters from the St. Paul Fish Market at the Thief Wine Bar in the Milwaukee Public Market as I write this blog.

If you haven't been to the Milwaukee Public Market in a while you have to get down here. So much has changed since it's opening three years ago -- it's really come into it's own.

One of my favorite new additions is the Thief Wine shop & bar. Owners Phil and Aimee are welcoming and full of vino knowledge in a warm, unassuming way.

What is beautiful about the market is you can order up food at any of the vendors and bring it over to the wine bar where Phil and Aimee will set you up with a fun wine (or two) to enjoy with your meal. As noted, my favorite is to pick up a few oysters and trot them over here to enjoy with one of the "Oyster" wines Phil has picked out. They also have pre-set wine flights you can enjoy that range from $9.50 - $15 for three 2-ounce pours or they'll help you assemble your own.

Aimee and Phil moved to our great city from California's sunny, warm wine country simply based on Milwaukee's good reputation. In their hands you'll find fun, tasty wines you can try and buy -- so come on down and give them a warm Milwaukee welcome. The market is open to 8 p.m. tonight - so get on down here!

Public Market Hours: M-F, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Sat. & Sun. 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
